The uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has thrown future lawyers’ planning up in the air.
With teaching and exams moved online, spring vacation schemes postponed and summer programmes shrouded in uncertainty, it’s not an easy time to be making the step from student to solicitor.
On Tuesday 12 May Legal Cheek is partnering with The University of Law (ULaw) to hold the first in a series of 'Staying Set for Success' virtual events to help answer some of the questions swirling around among future lawyers at the moment.
The event features a panel of experts including a member of Pinsent Masons’ COVID-19 taskforce, Willkie Farr’s head of graduate recruitment Gemma Baker, the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) head of education and training Julie Brannan, and Peter Crisp, ULaw's pro vice-chancellor.
From 4pm until 5:15pm the speakers will take questions from an online audience of students in a Q&A chaired by a Legal Cheek journalist. As well as advising on the immediate practical implications of the current disruption, they will give their views on how we will emerge from it.
There will then be virtual networking with the speakers and other representatives from their organisations until 6:30pm.
